Agree who owns what before the song is released. Everyone signs. This is the single best thing you can do to prevent disputes — and it’s free.
There is no standard split. Whatever you all agree to and sign is the split. An even split is only a starting suggestion — override any number freely.
Writer share and publisher share are two independent columns. A producer can take publishing points with no writer credit; a co-writer can have writer percentage with no publishing. Each side must total 100% on its own.
Note: the publisher side only pays out if each writer has actually set up a publisher entity with their PRO. If a contributor has no publisher, that portion of the publisher’s share may go uncollected. Signatures below make this record binding — give every collaborator a signed copy.
