Metadata Consistency

Your artist name must be spelled identically — same words, same casing, same spacing — everywhere. Any variation fragments your royalties across duplicate profiles that may never get matched or paid.

Rules that save royalties

  • • Same casing everywhere — Lil ExampleLIL EXAMPLE.
  • • Same spacing/punctuation — D.J. NameDJ Name.
  • • Decide on features formatting once (e.g. “feat.” vs “ft.”) and keep it consistent.
  • • Use your legal name consistently on registrations (PRO/MLC/SoundExchange), and your artist name consistently on release credits.
  • • If a duplicate/misspelled profile already exists, contact the platform/distributor to merge or correct it.
